How Wine is Made
Video Highlights:
Daryl gives us a quick tutorial on how this magical juice is made.
- Carefully ripened grapes are picked for their right flavors and sweetness and then crushed.
- The sugar level in the grapes will determine the alcohol level of the wine.
- For white wines, only the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks with the help of yeast, converting the sugar into alcohol.
- For red wines, the juice is fermented with the grape skins for 7 days. The increasing levels of alcohol uncovers more flavors from the grape skins. After fermentation, the wine is stored in wooden barrels for up to a year and a half, which helps soften the tannins.
